Cloudflare releases Clairic, an extraction model that returns typed values in one forward pass, billed on input tokens only, in preview on Workers AI

A model that generates no text and only returns structured fields, aimed at the step where a large model reads input just to fill in a form.

// Key points

  • Clairic extracts, computes, estimates or forecasts typed values from unstructured input in a single forward pass, generating no reasoning or output tokens, and bills only for input tokens.
  • It is in preview on Workers AI as @cf/cloudflare/clairic, callable from a Worker or the REST API; Cloudflare says it intends to release open weights soon and has not disclosed the parameter count.
  • In Cloudflare's claims pipeline, Clairic plus a decision step ahead of GLM-5.3 took 19.3 s end to end versus 61.7 s for GLM-5.3 alone, and cost $6,032 versus $11,740 per million claims.
  • Over 21 days of TSA passenger forecasts it averaged 3.3% off, with 17 of 21 actual counts inside the 80% interval.

Builder's takeThis runs in the same direction as OpenAI's Decisions API on 10-06: pull form-filling out of generative models. Extracting dates, amounts and parties from files uploaded to AI Cloud Drive is exactly this case; I'll compare Clairic with our current LLM approach on a few hundred real files for field accuracy, and keep it out of the main path until the weights are out.
