Gemini Notebook lets users review an outline before Slide Decks and Video Overviews render, rolling out globally over the next week
Moving from one-shot finished output to confirm-the-plan-then-render is a clear shift in how generative products interact.
// Key points
- Ask in chat for slides or a video overview and Notebook suggests topics from your sources; after you confirm, you can refine the content and choose the visual style and format.
- With the Review toggle on, you check the plan in the studio panel (outline notes for slides, producer notes for video), give feedback such as adding an executive summary or reordering scenes, and select Proceed before anything renders.
- If the prompt already states what you want, Notebook goes straight to review; you can also turn the toggle off and generate as before.
- It is rolling out globally to all Gemini Notebook users over the following week.
Builder's takeThe more expensive and slow the output (video, long articles, whole decks), the more it deserves a cheap confirmation point before rendering. I plan the same change for long-form generation in PandaClaws: show an outline for a nod before writing the body; I covered how to design that step in Designing Fallbacks and Human Confirmation Into Agent Systems.
