// Key points

  • From October 16 all API customers can create a custom voice from a text description, via the API or the voice Playground, and reuse it in GPT-Live sessions.
  • Creating a prompt-generated voice is free; speech generation uses regular GPT-Live session billing.
  • Nine new natural voices for GPT-Live: three German, two French, one Hindi, two Japanese and one Korean.
  • On October 15 GPT-Live gained a native Decisions integration: apps can act while the user is still speaking, or let Live call Decisions directly through native delegation.

Builder's takeAI Interview’s voice interviewer has always sounded too much like customer service; free custom voices mean a different interviewer voice per role, with cost only on call time. None of the new voices is Chinese, so if you build Chinese voice products, test pronunciation and interruptions on your own Chinese content before switching. Decisions acting before the user finishes fits deciding when to ask a follow-up.
