Amazon WorkSpaces for AI agents adds Linux and Windows 11 cloud desktops alongside Windows Server
Computer-use agents can now get a desktop that matches the OS their workflow needs, under the same isolation controls.
// Key points
- On Linux desktops agents get full root access and can run builds, tests and scripts
- On Windows 11 desktops agents can work in the enterprise applications teams already use
- Both keep the same controls as Windows Server desktops: network isolation, IAM-based access and existing compliance boundaries
Builder's takeRoot inside a disposable, network-isolated desktop is the right shape for agents that need to run builds. If you're trialling this, give each agent run a fresh desktop and no long-lived credentials; the isolation only helps if the desktop itself has nothing worth stealing.
