// Key points

  • The allowance depends on the Pro plan or the Business workspace's paid seats, up to $500 a month; Business credits are pooled and capped at $500 per workspace per month, or $6,000 per annual billing cycle.
  • The subscription must be paid, active and at least seven days old, with free trials and complimentary subscriptions excluded; you must own both the subscription and the API organization, using the same email.
  • Credits expire at the end of the billing cycle and don't roll over, apply only to the linked API organization, are used before purchased credits, and also cover built-in tools such as web search, file search and Code Interpreter.

Builder's takeFor a small team this is a fixed monthly prototyping budget. I would link it to a separate API organization used only for experiments, not production, or the production bill jumps the moment credits expire. Since credits reset every cycle, they are best spent on eval runs, such as comparing Terra and Sol.
